Iron Man 2 Easter Egg: Fin Fang Foom

There will be a big dragon villain in Iron Man 2 – and no, I’m not kidding. His name is Fin Fang Foom and he’s actually a classic villain from Iron Man’s comic book rogues gallery, and he definitely makes an appearance in the movie sequel.
And no, I’m still not joking. Our own Rob Keyes told us yesterday it was happening.
Super Robot Mayhem managed to get in touch with Adi Granov, who was the lead concept artist on Iron Man 2, and Granov was kind enough to tip fans off to a little Easter egg buried in the film: the appearance of Fing Fang Foom.
Not only did Granov let us know that Fin Fang Foom is in Iron Man 2, he also released the actual artwork he did for the character!
According to Granov, Foom will appear on a billboard that Iron Man is flying past, and that this particular Easter egg was a gift from director Jon Favreau to all the Shellhead fans out there.

This was my design for Fin Fang Foom for the Iron Man Viva Las Vegas book I was doing with Jon Favreau. But this image in particular was done for the IM movie and used as a billboard in one of the scenes whereIron Man flies past it. It’s very quick, but Jon wanted to have a kind of a cool easter egg in there.
Now I’m sure that we all (or at least most of us) can admit that no matter how cool this seems (or looks!), you definitely cannot have a huge dragon bad guy running around in the Iron Man universe Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and Co. have created onscreen. Just wouldn’t fit.
Unless, of course, you brought in The Mandarin as the villain for Iron Man 3… He could have an armored bodyguard whose suit was designed in the style of a fearsome ancient Chinese dragon named (you know it!) Fin Fang Foom…
For now, what we can definitely do is talk at length about how cool (or not) this concept art for Fin Fang Foom is! We can also keep our eyes peeled for the Easter egg moment in Iron Man 2 where Foom shows up onscreen and cheer for it, much to the bewilderment of the non-fanboys in theater.
Iron Man 2 will be in theaters May 7, 2010.

Iron Man 2 Will Be in IMAX
Today the IMAX Corporation, Marvel Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures released a joint press release stating that Iron Man 2 would hit digital IMAX theaters when the film is released this May.
According to the release, the IMAX release will be limited and achieved through digitally remastering "into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with IMAX DMR® technology."
What does that mean to you? You'll be able to see (and hear) Iron Man 2 better than you would in a normal theater in 35mm -- just don't be disappointed when you realize that the movie doesn't fill up the entirety of a true IMAX screen. Unlike The Dark Knight which had entire scenes shot with IMAX cameras, Iron Man 2 is undergoing a post-production jazzing up, much like Watchmen did in 2009.

Watching Iron Man 2 at IMAX is worth the money...as long as it is shot in IMAX!...What I know is, since it was not shot with IMAX cameras, it will be converted using their DRM technology. Avatar in IMAX 3D was amazing! So, unless something was shot for it, or is in 3D, it's not worth seeing it in IMAX.

War Machine Creator Describes His 'Iron Man 2' Set Visit And The Dispute He Settled While He Was There!

EDITOR'S NOTE: With "Iron Man 2" just a few months away from hitting theaters, MTV News contacted War Machine co-creator Bob Layton to discuss the character's upcoming debut on the big screen. The conversation covered a wide range of subjects that we're rolling out this week in a four-part series — continuing with today's tale of his "Iron Man 2" set visit and the disagreement he moderated while he was there.
Longtime “Iron Man” writer and artist Bob Layton is recognized as one of the most significant creators to chronicle Tony Stark’s adventures, so it's probably no surprise that he was called upon to help settle a creative disagreement between director Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr. during his visit to the “Iron Man 2” set last summer.
“When I first got on the set, there was a dispute going on between Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. about [Jim Rhodes’] character,” Layton explained to MTV News. “That’s how I was introduced to them. It was like, ‘here’s the guy who helped created the character, why don’t we ask him?’"
"We got into this lively discussion in terms of how Jim Rhodes would react to a certain situation and we all came to some sort of agreement on that," he explained. "I basically acted as an arbitrator.”
“I can’t really tell you anything particular about the story,” continued Layton. “But there’s a point where Tony and Jim are in disagreement on something pretty major. They were trying to understand what Jim’s motivation would be in that situation. I was flattered that they asked me my opinion on it.”
Layton also revealed that he was present for the filming of Whiplash’s confrontation with Tony Stark on the Monte Carlo racetrack.
“At the time I was there, they were shooting the Monte Carlo scene where Mikey Rourke as Whiplash comes out on to the track and starts tearing up cars and basically Tony’s car gets destroyed,” said Layton. “It was pretty action-packed."
"We got to blow up some stuff that day and that was pretty fun, too," he added. "I got to go behind the scenes and meet the stunt people and they made me an honorary stunt man. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to do anything.”
Layton also received an exclusive look at some of the finished special effect shots for the forthcoming film.
“The guys from the special effects unit took me to their trailer and showed me some of the stuff that they were working on which just blew me away," he said. "I had lunch with the cast and crew and just had a really great time there.”
“Here’s the thing that really impressed me," he added. "I went there kind of slack-jawed and in awe of meeting Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau and Mickey Rourke. [But] Jon and Robert and the entire cast and crew seemed to be more fans of me than me of them.”
“They were so incredibly respectful and they had read all the comics and knew the stuff backwards and forwards. I was blown away by it," he laughed. "They treated me like I was visiting royalty. I had an absolutely tremendous time. They’ve been incredibly respectful and terrific as far as me and my contributions to the history of the character.”

Since then Anya Monzikova has appeared in Deal or No Deal, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Love as a model. In 2007, Anya took on a guest role in the TV series Medium before appearing in Cane and CSI: Miami. Monzikova has also been seen in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
During 2008, Anya found other work on the set of the movie Tropic Thunder in an unaccredited role before going on to appear in ‘Life’ in the role of Lex. In the same year Monzikova would go on to secure roles in Playing With Five as Marie and grab two episode guest role in the TV series Knight Rider.
Most recently the blonde Russian Iron Man 2 actress has starred in the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates as well as her already above mentioned upcoming role as Rebekah.
